Dr. sc. med. Karsten Denner
Born on 01st September, 1954
The focus of his activity lies in arthroscopic knee joint surgery. During his medical specialization which continued until 1985 and, thereafter, by 1989, he expanded his knowledge through sitting in on lectures with orthopaedic clinics in Berlin, Leipzig, Frankfurt/Oder and Chemnitz. In 1980 he defended his doctorial thesis and in 1989 his postdoctorial thesis required for qualification as a university lecturer. His scientific activities are demonstrated by more than 60 publications and lectures. In 1991 he began to set up an independent medical practice. In July 2004 he moved to modern premises at Ladeburger Chaussee 71 in Bernau (near Berlin).
After private settlement, Dr. Denner improved and expanded his knowledge and his abilities by attending the medical activities of Dr. Tom Rosenberg in Salt Lake City, Dr. Scheller and Dr. Micheli in Boston and Dr. Weiland in Clearwater to acquire instruction in specific methods. He attended congresses in San Francisco, New Orleans and Vista in California as well as in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. He permanently maintains contacts with colleagues home and abroad. From 1999 through 2001 Dr. Denner provided medical care for the first league ice hockey team EHC Eisbären Berlin in the capacity as team physician. He medicates many patients from sports clubs.
Curriculum Vitae
He passed the final secondary school examination (A-level) at the Workers and Peasants Faculty in Halle in 1973. From 1973 through 1978 he studied human medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1978 to 1979 he completed the internship (clerkship) in the military hospital in Ueckermünde and was military physician from 1979 through 1982. From 1982 to 1983 he continued his medical specialization in surgery in Berlin, changed over to orthopaedics and passed the exam in December 1985. From 1989 to 1990 he was head of the orthopaedic department of the Central Institute of Industrial Medicine in Berlin.
From April 1990 to December 1990 he worked as an orthopaedist in the rehabilitation clinic in Wandlitz, since 1st June, 1991 he practises orthopaedic surgery in his private practice in Bernau (near Berlin) with main emphasis on knee joint arthroscopy.
In 1980 he obtained the doctor’s degree and in 1989 the advanced doctor’s degree. He attended specific medical activities in the Charité Hospital in Berlin, in the orthopaedic clinics in Rostock, Leipzig, Chemnitz and Cottbus until 1989. In 1994 and in 1997 he attended the medical work of Dr. T. Rosenberg in Salt Lake City, Dr. L. Micheli and Dr. R. Scheller in Boston in 1997 and Dr. Wyland in Clearwater in 1997 for instruction in specific methods.
He is member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), instructor in the German Association of Arthroscopy (AGA), consulting physician of the Tennis Academy of Berlin-Brandenburg and physician of the professional ice hockey players team EHC Eisbären Berlin. From 1999 through 2001 he was Executive Chairman of the Association for Ambulant Operation of Brandenburg, registered, (LAO).
